Be the first player to form a complete winning hand of 14 tiles: exactly 4 melds + 1 pair. You win either by drawing the winning tile yourself (Tsumo) or by claiming another player's discard (Ron).
There are three suited suits and two honor groups. Every tile exists in 4 identical copies.
Winds and Dragons are called honor tiles. They can only form Pong melds, never Chows.
A winning hand needs exactly 4 melds. There are two types:
